Starting with Only a Backhoe, a Dump Truck, and a Trailer

Shawn and Kevin Guyer initially started Guyer Brothers in December 1999. Kevin was the estimator, and Shawn worked as the operator. Their father, Wendell, soon became their first employee, followed by Kurtis Horton.Our company started small, with only a JCB backhoe, a single-axle dump truck, and a nine-ton trailer. We began bidding small projects for local municipalities, and after a few successful jobs, we purchased more heavy equipment and trucks and continued to grow.

Growing Into the Area’s Top Digging and Drilling Experts

After five years, Guyer Brothers employed five people, including Shawn’s wife, Traci, who served as an office assistant. In the summer of 2006, we took work doing site excavation for the Bedford Springs Hotel Renovation Project, installing sewer lines and water lines in front of the hotel, located in Bedford, PA. In 2007, we moved into a permanent office, attached to our current shop, and in 2014, Guyer Brothers was a nominee for the Equipment World Magazine Contractor of the Year Award.

Guyer Brothers currently employs 25 people. Our team and office management continue to work hard to grow our company and provide you with outstanding water line and sewer line installation, replacement, and repair, jack and bore drilling, directional drilling, and excavation service. We have come a long way since that JCB backhoe, single-axle dump, truck and nine-ton trailer, as we now utilize a large fleet of modern, well-maintained equipment. We also use Thermoform PVC liners and the EZ Valve system in our work, ensuring effective, high quality results for you.
